The United States Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, And Transportation begins an investigation into the allegation that Facebook has censored conservative political discourse, tailoring public conversation, and perceptions.
As outlined by the CCST, CEO Mark Zuckerberg, by Committee's oversight authority, must arrange for all staff members, including those responsible for "Trending Topics" to personally "brief Committee staff on the issue." Zuckerberg is also required to answer a series of questions about the "Trending Topics" program no later then May 24, 2016. The questions include inquiries into training, holding individuals accountable for such actions, cooperator structure, and more.
The topic has been trending world wide on Facebook today, but was quickly taken down from Twitter, leaving users of Twitter to speculate if Twitter should be investigated as well.
